A Word From Our Executive Director
Graduation has come, school has ended, and summer is in full swing. I hope that everyone enjoys this time. Stay safe and have some fun.
Please SLOW DOWN. We are still seeing residents and visitors driving too fast through our communities. You are responsible for your visitors, please advise them to slow down, as well. We want to keep our children safe.
We encourage everyone to make it out to the Block Party on June 4th. We will begin at 11 am. Any volunteers are welcome.
Let's Get Involved.
Sincerely,
Sherry Lynch
Executive Director

Maintenance
- Trash!! If your trash does not fit in your trash can, do not set it on the ground. Cumberland Disposal will NOT pick it up. Do not store trash on your porches. If it doesn't fit, take it to one of the city trash receptacles.
- Outside of Units!! There should be NOTHING stored outside of your unit other than lawn furniture and grills. Mattresses, old tires, bikes, toys, tarps, wagons, trash, etc. should not be stored on the porch or in the yard. Use your storage rooms or get rid of these items.
- Trash Cans!! There is a Cumberland Disposal trash can issued to every unit. Look on the inside lid to find your unit number. After trash has been picked up, please return YOUR can to your unit.
- Plants!! Any plants potted/planted in the yard must be weeded and kept up by the resident. Solar lights must be maintained, as well. If not, they will be removed. Before planting, you must speak to management first.
- Pets!! We are having a major issue with pet waste in the yards. If you have a pet, you signed a pet agreement that states that you are responsible for cleaning this up. Our staff does not want to step in waste and then track it into your apartment, our office, etc. If this continues to be a problem, pet fees will increase.
- Leashes!! Your pets are to be on a leash when outside. If they are tethered, they MUST be supervised. When finished with the leash/chain, do not leave it on the ground. These can cause serious damage to mowers/weed eaters. If we pick it up, it will be discarded.
- Close storm doors!! It's that time of the year again - windy season - Please do not leave storm doors propped open. The wind will damage the closer and you could be charged.

Be Careful About What Little Ears Hear.
A friend hosted a dinner party for people from work and everyone was encouraged to bring their children.
All during the dinner, one co-worker's five-year-old daughter stared at the man sitting across from her at the table. The girl could hardly eat her food due to staring so much.
The man checked his shirt, felt his face for food, and patted his hair in place, but nothing stopped her from staring at him. He tried his best to just ignore her but finally, it was too much for him.
He asked her, "Excuse me, but why do you keep staring at me?"
Everyone at the table had noticed her behavior, and they all went quiet waiting for her response.
The little girl said, "I just want to see how you drink like a fish."
Summer Safety Tips
- Stay Hydrated. Staying hydrated is optimal for body functioning, especially during the hot and humid months. If you're going to be outside keep water with you and drink it often. Consuming foods with high water content-think melons, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. can also help you stay hydrated. Summer is the perfect season for eating healthy fruits and veggies.
- Insect Repellent. Protect yourself from diseases spread by mosquitos, ticks, fleas, etc. Malaria, West Nile, and Lyme disease can all be deadly. Get rid of standing water in your yard- buckets, bird baths, etc.
- Thunder and Lightning. "When thunder roars, go indoors." Even though the odds of being struck by lightning are one in a million, it still happens. Remember the 30-30 rule. Once you see lightning, count to 30. If you hear thunder before the 30 seconds, go inside. Also, avoid taking a shower or bath during a storm as lightning can travel through plumbing.
- Take Care Of Your Feet. Flip flops and sandals look so cute on your feet, right? Yes, but they can wreak havoc on your feet. Did you know that the pressure you have to apply with your toes, to keep them on, can cause tendonitis in your toes? Plus, they offer little to no support which can cause foot AND back pain.
- Do What You Love. Finding joy in life is one of the best ways to keep you mentally and physically healthy. Go visit a friend, go on vacation, play with your grandchildren, lay in the yard and look at the clouds, plant flowers, or pick flowers and make a bouquet.
